A Little Local Love
Posted on July 07 2016
our local scene this summer as Knoxville seems to be exploding every week with new restaurants and things to do downtown!
Here are some of our favorites we've been frequenting:
Every Saturday morning in Market Square you can find a row of tents featuring anything from fresh, organic vegetables to handmade goodies like bath scrubs and candles. We love getting an early start to the day by walking in the square and supporting local vendors! Our favorite part - it's fur baby friendly!
This restaurant is a lovely addition to Knoxville's Oliver Hotel. With a swanky atmosphere and a menu described as "new American," we think it is a great place for a girls dinner or late night drinks. And if you aren't ready to call it a night, you can walk around the corner to the "secret" speakeasy bar called the Peter Kern Library.
For our fellow sweet-toothed friends, Sugar Mama's Bakery has many delicious options to satisfy a quick craving. They are located on the budding 100 block of Gay Street. We recommend the lemon cookie which actually tastes more like a miniature lemon cake and totally worth the extra calories!
This cozy coffee shop is one of our personal faves. While there are many awesome coffee shops downtown, Awaken offers a quiet and warm environment tucked away in the Old City that we love to work and read in. The baristas are all super friendly and make a mean iced latte!
Another Old City favorite of ours. We love the wine specials and tapas to kick off a girls night out! If you are looking for your next favorite pinot noir, the staff is always willing to help. An extra loved perk- they feature local artist's artwork on the walls available for purchase!
If you are looking for a unique, new dining experience, definitely check out the Lonesome Dove! Chef Tim Love recently opened this western influenced restaurant with Knoxville being just the 3rd location after Austin and Fort Worth. We can't wait to try the stacked pheasant enchiladas and jalapeño cucumber margarita next!
What are some of your favorites? Stay tuned for more and keep showing that local love!
